1127 Harrison Ave | Roxbury
Approved: Residential - 21 Co-living Spaces

1127 Harrison Avenue, once home to the Berwick Cake Company, was purchased January of 2019. Due to the property’s prominent central location along the Washington Street Corridor and its close ties to the surrounding African community, Phase 1 is an important step toward the continued revitalization of Dudley Square.

When the property was first purchased, it was home to a variety of local merchants and food shops found almost nowhere else in Boston. Taking into consideration the cultural significance of this site, BREC opted for the select renovation of a portion of the property in order to stabilize the building, avoiding tenant displacement and rent increases, and allowed a comprehensive community review process for the larger second phase. The project received designed approval September 2019 with construction slated to begin fall 2019.

26 Centre Street| Fort Hill
Under-construction: Residential - 4 Rental Townhouses

26 Centre St, otherwise known as 31-33 Highland Avenue, was purchased fall of 2016 after a very involved community review process that lasted over 2 years. BREC, in collaboration with Monte French Design Studio, was able to create an as-of right project that respects the scale and architectural detail of the surrounding Fort Hill neighborhood while maximizing the use of a prime corner lot that had been plagued by vagrancy and neglect for years.

This project presents a unique take on rental housing in Boston that affords each tenant the privacy of their own en-suite bathroom, without the luxury sticker price to match. Construction for this project began April of 2019 and the project is slated for delivery Spring of 2020.
